About us!
[FuN] is not just a clan, we are a community of like minded people. We are not just into gaming. We have gaming servers, radio stations, forums chat rooms and other activities we like to partake in, but our gaming side is what has no doubt brought you here. As a gaming
clan we currently specialise in the following games: Our History [FuN] Clan started all the way back in late 2001 with a few members. Since then we have maintained top notch gaming servers, active forums & Chat rooms and a load of great members. Our roots were founded initially in the realms of Quake 3. Some members of an earlier clan broke off and formed Clan [FuN], led by the god [FuN]Stomith, who played the then newly released "Return to Castle Wolfenstien". Our then flagship server [FuN] 4 Gamers was born! Our Servers [FuN] 4 Gamers was a well known Depot Map Shrubmod server was our longest running and most popular server. We then expanded onto the beach, with [FuN] 4 Lamers, which after a short while was renamed [FuN] 4 Phreeks, and ran Banimod on the Popular Beach map. Then we struck gold! [FuN] 4 Goldrush came to our monitors! Running on the RTCW "Ice" map, it was based on Bani's Goldrush, you had to collect the gold for points. [FuN] Remained a RTCW clan for quite a while and even branched briefly into Match play in late 2002 with the "sister" clan :oNo:, which sadly due to lack of commitment was re-absorbed into [FuN] in early 2003. Branching out! After awhile, people started to branch out into different games. When Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory was released, we were soon to jump onto the bandwagon. We soon set up "ET" servers. At one point we ran 4 ET servers, of which one of those remains online - [FuN] 4 Evermore. Then came Call Of Duty. Again members were keen to branch out onto CoD territory, and again we jumped on the bandwagon with our own 3 CoD Servers, one ran for our partners, www.aaed.co.uk was [FuN] 4 AAED.co.uk and was amongst the most popular CoD Server we hosted. CoD: United Offensive was then released, and as numbers of RTCW were down we finally said goodbye to Goldrush and our flagship [FuN] 4 Gamers Server :'(. Phreeks remained as our only RTCW server while 2 CoD:UO were set up in thier place. At this point we had 11 public servers! And a public Teamspeak server After awhile we dropped our less popular servers and concentrated on 3 ET Servers, 2 CoD and 2 CoD:UO and the last of our RTCW servers, phreeks was shut down for good, although the name was taken over and a new "sister server" was set up by the Warbitz clan, founded by [FuN]c0sm1c. Shock Horror! Then in December 2005 it happened! Our long running server provider shut down. Sadly we lost ALL servers for a time. But the teamwork and community of [FuN] and it's closest allies and friends pulled together and funded some all new servers. In January 2006 [FuN] 4 Evermore ET Server came back online with a fresh new IP and server. This was then followed by [FuN] 4 AAED.co.uk returning. After all the strife, we again have branched out again, adding our 3rd new server, this time CounterStrike: Source. [FuN] 4 CSS was born. [FuN] 4 AAED.co.uk was renamed [FuN] 4 CoD August 2006 saw 3 new servers coming online, [FuN] 4 Mayhem eXtreme+ CoD2 and [FuN] 4 F.E.A.R. a new F.E.A.R. Combat server for the free multiplayer game. The success of the F.E.A.R server was immense so we put a 2nd server online, [FuN] 2 F.E.A.R.. People Power [FuN] has changed over the years, we started out with about 10 members in 2001 and in 2005 we peaked at over 75 members!!!!! We have changed games and even personalities, we have also added skills of web designers, programmers, graphics designers and server administrators... and even Radio DJs for our associate stations. People power became easier when Frags started [FuN] 4 Forums, the official forums in late 2002. Now it has grown to over 1600 members and over 22,000 posts. Of the original [FuN] team.. only 2 members remain... Scott & Frags - The current interim clan leaders. Currently the newest member of the team is [FuN]Spliffyed - one of the regulars on the Evermore server. Article written by: [FuN]Frags |
